N L Evans
Boardman Norman L Evans was on the first Board of SRS and served through the years until his health failed. He was influential as his ministry was a global ministry extending to several countries and was evangelistic as he established congregations throughout the US holding campaigns and tent meetings. He tutored many up and coming young ministers and helped them to develop ministry skills. Among them was SRS President Loyd Harris and Boardman Evans especially nurtured his development. When President Harris founded SRS, Evangelist Evans came aboard and supported SRS in every way. Through his influence, he opened doors for the president and provided council to him. His family, his congregation and his personal support came with him for the School.
Evans was just as committed in all his ministry efforts, having helped churches and communities around the country and passed the legacy on to his protégé’s. Everywhere he went and served, not only did the church know him, the community also knew him. He was a personal friend of Brother Harris who was asked by the family to say the final words over him.
DR. Steve Williams
Boardman DR Steve Williams was a Board Member of SRS until his death, having given in to advanced illness. He came to SRS through hearing about the school and President Harris and wanted to serve with him. He served under President Harris as an intern before being appointed to a congregation. He taught in SRS and came to know what it was about and embraced the spirit of the school. Consequently he used his influence and resources to support the school and retained contact and involvement throughout his life. His ministry touched those within and outside the church. He was a counselor in the prison system, he established the Counseling program of the School of Religious Studies and actively engaged in evangelism and campaigns. He was a personal friend of Brother Harris who was asked by the family to say the final words over him.
